Cobb PTA

The mission of the Dr. William Cobb Elementary PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality at Cobb by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

FAQ

What is a PTA?

The Cobb PTA is a not-for-profit organization that supports the students and families of Cobb. We raise money and volunteer for the school. The PTA is run by an executive board, made up of the principal, a teacher, and elected officers, who are usually parents. Committee chairs and members organize events and special initiatives. We raise money and manage grant money for the school and then fund programs and activities.

 

Why join the PTA?

Your dues go to support the national and state-level PTA organizations, which provide the infrastructure and support to do what we do at the school level. More importantly, as a member, you can vote at Cobb PTA association meetings and have your voice heard. You will vote on budget, board members, and other important decisions at a few meetings during the year. In other words, as a member, you have a say in how our money is spent and who is running the organization. If we don’t have members, we don't have a PTA. The 2018-19 membership drive is coming soon.

 

What does the PTA do at Cobb?

The PTA organizes the Harvest Festival, Carnival, movie nights, and other fun events at the school. PTA volunteers help with various school events, in classrooms, and day-to-day around the school. We also provide financial and volunteer support for class programs and special projects.

 

Why should I get involved in the Cobb PTA?

We need your help—really! Cobb is a small school with busy families. It’s hard to make time for meetings at school, or volunteer. We get it. The PTA is a small and new organization with a few parents doing the vast majority of the work to keep it going. We need more people to jump in and help us figure things out. No experience necessary! Being an active member of the PTA is great way to meet other Cobb families, stay in the loop with school news, and learn new skills. If you want to be involved, we’ll figure out how to make it work with your schedule.

 

What can I do now?

  • Support the Cobb PTA! There are many ways to donate money!
  • Subscribe to the Cobb PTA email list to stay in the loop with PTA meetings and school events. You do not need to be a member to be on the mailing list.
  • Join the Cobb PTA board or start volunteering now. We still need board members for the 2018-19 school year who are willing to jump into a leadership position and help build our PTA. We also need parents who are willing to join committees and be available to help kick off the new school year. Please talk to a current PTA member, school staff member, or email info@cobbpta.com.

Become a Member!

All parents, teachers, and community members are encouraged to join the Cobb PTA. By joining the PTA, you are showing your support for the school and you can vote at PTA meetings.

 

Membership dues at $5 per year. You can pay by cash or check by using a membership envelope, available at the school office, and putting it in the blue PTA box in the office. You can also join online.
